The root has a very pleasant mild flavour with a flou ry texture and is commonly eaten as a potato substitute. Active compounds in D. japonica are reported to exert various biological effect s, including anti-rheumatic and anti-oxidant activities. According to the in vitro experiment results, Ma Extract, containing the root extract of D. japonica, is a multi-functional ingredient displaying anti-wrinkle, anti-oxidant, and anti-allergic actions. Ma Extract was tested clinically and show moisturizing effect.
