Ji Ikpyo/Then aged 177 Presidential Citation (Nov. 17, 2019) [Cheongsan, Wando county/ From Oct. 28, 1925 to Present] Entering Yeosu Public Fisheries School on April 4, 1939 under Japanese colonial rule, he joined the book club that seniors from his hometown had organized, studied the Anti-Japanese Spirit, and engaged in the Anti-Japanese Movement. Having led a protest and school strike at his fourth grade to expel a Japanese teacher who discriminated against Korean students, he got arrested by Japanese police for violating the maintenance of the public order act, caught in jail, and got suspended from the school indefinitely As he got a suspension of the indictment on the use of violence, and the school suspension was released, he returned to school on January 13, 1943.
