METHODS 1.Subjects Participantswere241motherscomprisedof138Korean-Americanand 103European-Americanmotherswithchildrenpriortokindergartenentryat thetimeofdatacollection.Theresultsofcontingencytableanalysis revealednogroupdifferenceinmostdemographicvariables. 2.Instruments ThedimensionsofathleticskillsamongEducationalAttitudeScale(EAS) wereusetoassessmother'sattitudesforphysicaleducationfortheir preschoolers.ThisscaleisLikert-typequestionnairewithallitemsscored onasix-pointscaleandreliabilitywasCronbachalpha.72.Also,the motherswereaskedtolistalltheirpreschoolerslessonsandout-of-school ’ activitiesfocusedonphysicaleducation.Someexamplesweregivensuchas swimming,gymnastics,soccer,anddancelessons. 3.Procedure Korean-AmericanmotherswereprimarilyrecruitedfromKoreanchurch organizations.Inturn,European-Americanmotherswererecruitedfrom severalMOPS(MothersofPreschoolers)programs,whichare non-denominationalChristiansupportorganizationsformothersof preschoolers,andotherchurchrelatedprograms.ForKoreanmotherswho maybemoreproficientinKoreanthanEnglish,theEnglishversionofthe questionnairewastranslatedintoKoreanusingback-translationtechniques.
